The New York Online 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course is a requirement of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for individuals, 18 years of age and older who possess a valid New York Learner's Permit that includes their photo, applying for a full New York Driver's License. This course meets all of the requirements of the DMV and must be completed prior to scheduling your road test. However, this Pre-Licensing Course is not designed to help students pass the road test. This is not the Point & Insurance Reduction Course. The course is designed to equip new drivers with the knowledge and skills to become a GREAT DRIVER. The information in this course will teach you the New York traffic laws and how to apply them to properly operate a vehicle as a defensive driver on the roads. In addition, this course will cover the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs as well as prepare you for potentially hazardous situations that you may encounter on the road. At the end of this course, you will know how to safely and effectively conduct yourself so that you, your passengers, and other drivers remain safe during your travels. Once you have paid for the course you have 30 days to complete it.
